David Jack Turney, 75, died peacefully at home on July 7, 2026, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Born April 12, 1951, in Gilroy, California, David was the loving husband of Debbie (Fausset) for 55 years, a devoted father to Kimberlee and Aaron, a grandfather to five grandchildren, and an expectant great-grandfather. David was the third and youngest child of Mavis and Jack Turney. He grew up in San Martin, California, and attended Live Oak High School, where he excelled in football and track. After graduating in 1970, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, beginning a 22-year military career as a surgical technician. He retired in 1992 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military service, David made his home in Gustine, California, and continued working in the medical field as a surgical scrub technician. In 2016 he and his wife entered retirement, purchasing an RV and enjoying travel to the coast and visits with family and friends. In 2019 they relocated to Zimmerman, Minnesota, where they built a home on a small acreage and embraced a quieter life together. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Kimberlee McCornack (Alan); son, Aaron Turney (Heather); grandchildren Kaylee, Abigail, Madysen, Zachariah, and Lexi; sister Amy Marzlof-Black; and brother Tom Turney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mavis Turney. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at Whitehurst Funeral Home, 1840 S. Center St., Los Banos, CA, followed by interment at 1:00 PM at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Rd., Santa Nella, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
