January 1946. He was a Tech Sergeant in the Occupational Army in Europe with the Chemical Warfare Attachment. LaDonna accompanied him to California where she worked as a secretary at the Naval Air Station until Calvin was discharged in January 1947. They moved back to the home place in Iowa where they farmed and raised cattle and hogs until retirement. Calvin and LaDonna were blessed with two daughters, DeAnna and Marcia. They were faithful members of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola where Calvin served 6 years as Deacon. He was a Charter Member of both the Mineola American Legion Post 705 and the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department and 3rd Generation to serve as Bank Director of the Mineola State Bank, following in the footsteps of his father Dewey and grandfather Herman Peters. He enjoyed dancing with LaDonna and loved spending time with his family and friends. Calvin and LaDonna began the Mineola Card Club where 5-6 couples played Pitch together for 60 years. Calvin was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, and a good friend to all who knew and loved him. Calvin and LaDonna were married 70 years when LaDonna passed away on December 30, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, William "Bill" Goy. Calvin is survived by his loving daughters, DeAnna Johnson and husband Keith of Mineola, and Marcia Radford and husband Dr. Bennett of Lampe, MO; grandchildren, Alicia (Tyler) Morgan, Dlo (Brian) DuVall, Lana Horoho, Bree (Scott) Frye, Kyle (Rachel) Johnson; great grandchildren, Blake (Hannah), Ridge and Chase Morgan; Ashlynn Peck, Calvin(Gabby) DuVall and Lauren (Matt) O'Callaghan; Jack and Ryan Horoho; Colby and Kaden Frye; Timothy, Elizabeth, Sarah Ruth, Mark and Cecelia Johnson; 3 great-great grandchildren Endsley, Calvin, Esther; extended family and many friends.
