lifornia. They were married on May 15, 2015, in Wisconsin where they had their daughter, Elizah. The couple moved to Colorado, and in 2017, moved to West Palm Beach, FL to be near Emelie's family. On February 25, 2018, Emelie gave birth to their son Thomas who is named after Deputy Nimtz's late brother. While residing in West Palm Beach, Benji began his career with the Broward Sheriff 's Office to pursue his passion for law enforcement. He attended the Broward Institute of Public Safety Academy Class 317 in March of 2018. In the police academy, Benji was his unit's squad leader, and upon his graduation in August 2018, he received the academic excellence award and ranked 2nd in his class out of 28 cadets. Upon graduation, Deputy Nimtz was assigned to the Deerfield Beach District. Deputy Nimtz and family had plans to move to Indiana in July, to raise his family and continue his career in Law Enforcement with the Fishers Police Department. The family is extremely grateful to the men and women of the Broward Sheriff 's Office for their care and compassion shown during this difficult time.
