line Co. working in Human Resources. Conoco Pipeline required the young family to move to various places including Wyoming, Illinois, and Ponca City, OK. They would not leave Wyoming empty handed as their first baby Todd Walling would be born in Casper in 1964. D.L. later joined Shell Oil Company. This job moved the family in and around Texas as is common in the oilfield. They moved to Houston, to Midland, then back to Houston where they welcomed their baby girl, Kimberly in 1969. Houston would be their home for six years before moving to New Jersey for a few years. After enduring their years in Jersey, they moved back to Houston for the third and final time. After another six year stint in Houston with Shell and Permian, D.L. and Barbara had the opportunity they had always looked for, a move home to Oklahoma in 1984. Tulsa is where D.L. had a final career change working for Cities Service then Occidental Petroleum (OXY). They became members at South Tulsa Baptist Church in 1984. As the director of Human Resources, he was instrumental in the de-certification of the oilfield unions for OXY in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. For this significant accomplishment, he received a prestigious commendation from OXY Chairman, Dr. Armand Hammer. D.L. would get another transfer from OXY to Bakersfield California for a couple of years until he could retire. D.L. finally retired January 1, 2001 after a highly successful career and one more transfer to Tyler, Texas. After a few years in Tyler and a thousand or so holes of golf, they made their way back to Tulsa one last time. Through the years, the family enjoyed a favorite family vacation spot, Creede, Colorado where D.L., Barbara, and the kids enjoyed making years of family memories in the mountains, fly fishing and enjoying all of God's creation. D.L. had many hobbies. He enjoyed HO gauge trains, hunting, fishing, gun collecting, Corvettes, golf, and sailing. In retirement, D.L. could be found attending car shows, gun shows, men's prayer breakfast, leading an adult Sunday school class, and delivering clothes to the Ministry Center.
