In his "sparetime" he enjoyed snowmobiling and tractor pulling and was a member of the Iowa Tractor Pulling Association; Southeast Iowa Ridgeblasters; and Big Creek Tractor Association. He enjoyed traveling, winters in Texas, antique tractors and watching his son and grandson race. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Scott (Sue) Strothman of New London; two daughters, Debra (Mervin Grant) Strothman of Glen Allen, VA and Susan (Todd) Eiken of Mt. Union; four grandchildren, Corey (Samantha) Strothman, Amy Strothman, Serena and Rachael Grant; two great-grandchildren, McKenna and Deacon Strothman; one brother, John Strothman of New London; three sisters, Carol Messer of Yarmouth, Charlotte Young of North Liberty and Charlene (Randy) Larson of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Steven Charles; brother Max Strothman and nephew Neil Strothman. The funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Kathleen Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery with military rites by the Henry County Honor Guard. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday with the family present from 5:00 - 8:00.
