Mary LaVon Hunter, age 95 of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Newton Healthcare. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the church until service time. Burial will take place at Colfax Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Colfax United Methodist church or the Colfax Historical Society. Condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The daughter of Gerald Raymond and Alyce (McFarlin) Butler, Mary was born on July 16, 1923 in Stuart, Iowa. On January 31, 1964, she was united in marriage to Darrold D. "Yea" Hunter at the Methodist Church parsonage in Colfax. She worked as an executive secretary at the Monroe Table Company for 30 years. Mary was an active member of the Colfax United Methodist Church. She was involved with United Methodist Women, Church Choir for many years, and secretary of the Interfaith Spiritual Center.
