Gerald A "Jack" McClellan, 90 of Lu Verne, passed away on June 25, 2019, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Lu Verne United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Lu Verne Cemetery with military honors conducted. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM Friday at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Lu Verne and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. Gerald Arthur (Jack) McClellan was born July 27, 1928, in Lu Verne, to Clinton and Clara (Genrich) McClellan. He graduated from Lu Verne High School in 1947. While in school, he worked for the railroad and after graduation, he worked around the country, working in mines in Idaho and picking fruit in the State of Washington. Jack joined the United States Navy in July of 1950, and served his country during the Korean War. After leaving the service in 1954, he came home and started farming with his father on the family farm. On May 11, 1956, Jack was united in marriage to Darlene May Patterson at Fort Dodge. owling, fishing, going to sports events at the school, taking trips to the casino and traveling with Darlene out west to see his brother. Left to cherish Jack's memory are his children, Howard Craig (Kathy) McClellan of Lu Verne, Pamela Bormann of Humboldt, and Karen McGregor of Lu Verne; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a sister Karen Johnston of Oxford, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene on November 25, 2000; three brothers Glen, Donald, and Howard McClellan; four sisters, Mary Powell, Kathleen Meyer, Marjorie Wilson, Dorothy Weller; and son-in-law John McGregor.
