Born April 12, 1928 in Maple, OK, Carl was the son of William and Effie (Simmons) Giles. Raised by his mother and step-father, this growing family would call Bixby home where Carl and his siblings would work alongside their parents on the farm. At the age of 18, Carl would join the United States Army during WWII. Upon his return home, he would meet a beautiful, young woman from Limestone, Arkansas named Freda Adams who had moved to the area and was staying with her sister. Carl and Freda would marry on November 26, 1947, in Arkansas, and would return to Bixby where they would begin a family of their own. To support his family, Carl would work as a welder and fabricator in the steel industry. He was employed by Oklahoma Steel and Braden Steel before beginning his own company, Giles Welding & Fabricating. He would retire from his career at the age of 57. A proud father, Carl enjoyed being with his sons, Johnny and Rocky, and watching their activities. It was such a tragedy when they had to say goodbye to their son, Johnny, who passed away at the age of 29. The Giles family enjoyed making memories on their annual vacations. ssouri, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado. In recent years, Carl could be found in his recliner watching old westerns and classics. Carl passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019. He was 91. This husband, father, grandfather, and friend will be missed by those surviving family members and friends. They include: his wife of 71 years, Freda; son, Rocky Giles and wife, Dawn; daughter-in-law, Patty Maupin and husband, Kirk; grandchildren: Shelly Morris and husband, Jeff, Tony Giles and wife, Lisa, Cory Giles, Lauren Hammontree and husband, Tony; great-grandchildren: Andrea Cartwright and husband Austin, Taylor Morris, Alex Morris and wife, Brittany, Jonathan and Ashley Giles and Frankie and Shepherd Hammontree; step-grandaughter Jamie and husband Patrick, step-grandson Jeff Maupin, step-granddaughters: Avery and Ragan Edison, Brianna and Holland Maupin, great-great granddaughter: Emma Morris; siblings: Agnes Divine, Nyoka Villanueva, Barbara Matthews and Grady Ullrich; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents: son, Johnny and siblings, Carnell Ulrich, Clarence Ullrich, JoAnn Gill and Linda Ullrich.
