et till Polly had a collection of 9 cups and saucers of various designs, with louder and louder patterns -she never did pick a set, but the collection is on display in Norman and Marjorie's home. After he was honorably discharged, Norman came home and continued farming with his dad. Norman decided to call his best friend's sister and invited her to a square dance. It was with the Rural Youth Group, and their future was set. Marjorie and Norman were married March 20, 1960. Laurie Jean was born the next January and they moved to the Hartje farm by Silver City. David Hall joined them December 1962. Norman raised cattle, sheep, hogs, and chickens. He grew corn, alfalfa, and soybeans. To please his children, he also acquired various dogs, cats, goats, and a couple of ducks. Norman worked hard on his farm but also took time to attend his children's activities. He and Marjorie also square danced with their friends and neighbors. Norman and Marjorie traveled to Europe, the West Coast, Canada, Hawaii, and visited family in Phoenix. After retirement, Norman and Marjorie moved to Carson and lived in her parents' home. Norman enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and especially attending his grandchildren's activities. If you knew Norm, you listened to a story or two or twenty. Norman also took wonderful care of his darling wife, Marjorie. Laurie, Dave, and their families know that Norm couldn't be without his beloved bride. He wanted to be in heaven with her to celebrate their 59th anniversary, March 20th. Norman was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie and his parents. Those left to remember him are his daughter, Laurie (Steve) Schulte of Auburn, NE; son David (Sue) Graham of Grundy Center, IA; grandchildren, Nathan Graham and friend Jena (Kansas City), Jordan and Landon Graham, Grundy Center, and Claire and Brenna Schulte, Auburn, NE; sister Marjorie Roberson, Lincoln, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Clair and Wally Lewellen, Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law Barb Lewellen, Omaha, NE; and dear nieces and nephews; other family; and friends.
