Gary Stepp

Gary Stepp, 69, of Keokuk, passed away at Great River Medical Center in Burlington, IA on Monday, February 4, 2019. Gary was born February 13, 1949 in Keokuk to Leroy and Mary Tucker Stepp. He was united in marriage to June Horner, she survives. Gary attended college and obtained an Associates of Arts degree while working at Sheller Globe in Keokuk. After 35 years at Sheller Globe, Gary retired and went to work with the City of Keokuk. Gary worked with the City of Keokuk for over 10 years before retiring for good. To say that Gary loved music would be an understatement. He was a member of several bands throughout the years and could play any guitar handed to him. Gary toured Europe with the band GONN and was also inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside other band members Gerry Gabel, Rex Garrett, Craig Moore, Dave Johnson Larry LaMaster, and Brent Colvin. After GONN, Gary was in several other bands including Quantril, Flight, The Cajun County Band, and the Oak Street Band. June Horner; one son, Shane Stepp, one daughter, Melisa Stepp, one step-daughter Michele Dennis; 2 brothers, Shawn Stepp, and Mike Stepp; 1 sister, Leah (Butch) Hendricks; a cousin that was raised as a brother, Archie Stepp; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Stepp, and his parents. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation services will be prior to graveside service at 11 am to 2 pm Monday, February 11, 2019 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk.
