Fire Department including 26 years as fire chief, St. Cecelias Parish in Algona, Perpetual Adoration Chapel and the Knights of Columbus. He remained active throughout his life and stayed busy with golfing, fishing, gardening and playing cards. He particularly enjoyed spending a week at East Battle Lake in Minnesota with his family every June. Leroy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Dale (Michele) Grandgenett, Eagan, MN; Lisa (Mark J) Miller, Algona, IA, Ann (Chris) Gander, Owatonna, MN, Ryan (Kelly) Grandgenett, Ames, IA; grandchildren, Cole and Cade Grandgenett, Shanna and Katie Miller, Corey and Ryan Gander and Claire, Allison, and Jack Grandgenett. Leroy is also survived by siblings, Carol Barlow, Bettendorf, IA, James (Joyce) Grandgenett, Algona, IA; Mary Lou (Ralph) Crawford, Treasure, Island, FL, sisters-in-law, Joan Grandgenett, Wesley, IA, Shirley Grandgenett, Mason City, IA, Donna Grandgenett, Algona, IA and Evelyn Grandgenett, Mason City, IA. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry, Harold, Dick and Paul; sister, Adeane (Cletus) Hejlik, brother-in-law, Jerry Barlow; infant sons, Joseph and Craig, and granddaughter, Sarah Grandgenett.
