Florence M. Dorio

Florence M. "Flossie" Dorio, passed away peacefully at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, December 9, 2018, at the age of 83. She was born September 15, 1935 in New Haven, CT and moved to this area in 2000 from West Haven, CT. Before retiring, she had worked as a secretary for the Yale New Haven Hospital in the Children's Clinical Research Center for 27 years. Florence had a passion for painting and it showed. She spent many hours on the pediatrics wing painting wonderful characters, animals and scenery on all the patients doors and walls throughout the floor. She always displayed sincere care and compassion for all patients and their families. Her personality was always full of laughter and joy for everyone including the medical staff. She is survived by her son Michael (Carol) Dorio, daughter Amy Dorio, brother John (Joyce) Carlson, her granddaughters, Sophia and Julia, many nieces and nephews, so many beloved friends in Florida and CT and her true companion Hachi always by her side. Florence was pre deceased by her husband Anthony in 1983 and their son Robert in 2012. All services will be private, requested by the family.
