Anand Swarup Prabhakar was born in Bangkok, Thailand, on August 14, 1936, son of Pandit Raghunath Sharma and Kesra Devi Sharma. Anand was raised and initially educated in Thailand and then finished his education in India. Afterwards, he moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1960.
Anand Swarup Prabhakar received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating, he initially taught at the Pennsylvania Military Academy (now known as Widener University) in Chester, PA. Thereafter, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he started his work with the U.S. Government as a Statistician. After ten years in Boston, Dr. Prabhakar was transferred to Washington, D.C. to continue his service, eventually becoming a part of Homeland Security. After over twenty years in Washington, D.C., Dr. Prabhakar moved to Florida and continued working with Homeland Security until he retired on April 30th, 2016.
Survived by his siblings, Vasudev Sharma, Mahaveer Prabhakar, Santosh Bhardwaj, Prem Swarup Prabhakar, Balkrishna Sharma, Sudesh Punj, Suraj (Rano) Vasisht, Vijay Kumar Prabhakar along with several nieces, nephews and cousins both near and far.

u Service will be held on Tuesday, December 11th from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Home, 6301 Taft Street in Hollywood, FL. Cremation will immediately follow after the service at Fred Hunters Crematory.
