and serve the community until his death. He served on the Iowa River Hospice, Elmwood Country Club, and Riverside Cemetery boards. John also served on the Marshalltown Community College Foundation. As a member of the Marshall County, Iowa State, and American Bar Associations, he was recently recognized for achieving 50 years of membership. When not working and serving the community, John enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Over the years, John cherished the annual fishing trips with his sons and closest friends to the lakes of Canada and Northeast Iowa trout streams. Most recently, he could be found with friends enjoying a round of golf at Elmwood or in the company of his loyal hunting dog, Suzy. John will be missed by two sons: Eric (Julia) Veldey of Kirkwood, MO, Matthew (Amy) Veldey of Waukee, IA; four grandchildren: Chandler, Jack, Gillian, and McKenna Veldey. He was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Veldey; his parents; a brother, Gary Veldey; and a sister in infancy.
