is met Bill, her husband to be, at FUMC as part of the youth program. They were married at the church July 25, 1947, and lived their entire married life in Marshalltown where Bill was affiliated with Security Bank. They became the parents of two sons, William A. "Lex" Lane and Nicholas Jonsson Lane. Phyllis shared Bill's interest in church and community service. Both were members of FUMC and longtime active members of the church choir. Other interests in her life were membership in the Chapter BB, P.E.O. (since 1949), Tuesday Musical Club (since 1947), and the 20th Century Club. She served on the board of the Community Nursing Service, the Child Abuse Prevention Board, the High School Auditorium Foundation Board, Heritage Club of the Community Y, and the Early American Glass Club. With Bill, she shared a love of music and they were supporters of the Marshalltown Community Concert Association (now Live on Stage), having served as co-presidents of this board for several years. She was devoted to her family, her church, and friends who had supported her through the years since Bill's death in 2001. Phyllis is survived by her two sons: Lex (Joan) Lane of Snohomish, WA, and Nick Lane of Sherman Oaks, CA; grandchildren Jennifer (John) Spaith of Bellevue, WA, and Will (Chiyo King) Lane of Seattle, WA; great grandsons Finn and Ben Spaith; and two nephews, Ted Smith and Clint Smith in California. Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill, in 2001, her parents, Mattie (Herter) and Georg C. Jonsson, and parents-in-law Will and Abra (Ford) Lane.
