Florence B. Cox

Florence B. Cox, 95, of Elmwood, passed away at 5:04 p.m., on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at her residence. She was born on May 26, 1923, in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Jesse and Mary (Baly) Alton. She married Robert Cox on August 18, 1946, in Shelbyville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2004. Florence is survived by three children, Ronald (Peggy) Cox of Elmwood, Diane (Wallace) Ricks of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Debbie (Robert) Shull of Arrowsmith, IL; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Carlile; one brother, George Alton; and one sister, Clara Spencer. Florence went to Cosmetology School in Pana, IL. She was a beautician for 14 years. She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church since 1947, where she served as a past deacon and choir member for several years. She was also involved with the Lorado Taft Historical Society, the Elmwood Business Women's Club, and past president of the Senior Citizen's Club.
