Dora Mae Slagle, 81, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. A visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dora is survived by her current husband, Tom; children, Lynn (David) Vaught; Tim (Teresa) Mernka ; Chris Mernka of Somers; Tracy (Tobias) Harp; Dennis (Stacy) Mernka all of Fort Dodge; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sigrid (Johnson) Hearn; first husband, Joseph Mernka Jr.; brothers, Arnold Johnson, Virgil Hearn; Dean Hearn; and sister, Bonnie Fuller.
Dora Mae Hearn was born April 11, 1935, in Fort Dodge. She attended school in Fort Dodge and graduated FDSH. On March 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Joseph Mernka Jr. The couple raised their five children in the Fort Dodge area, with Dora being a loving mother and homemaker. Joe passed away in 1990. Dora was later united in marriage to Tom Slagle in 1997. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge.

ird watching and camping and fishing at Spirit Lake. She also liked to bake, crochet and shop. Christmas time was important to her but her family was what she cherished most.
