Joseph Francis Rial, 81, of Barnum, passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Grandview Health Center in Dayton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31st at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Joe is survived by his five children: Erin, Fort Dodge; Eric (Jenny), San Diego; Kathleen (Randy) Gorski, Houston; Tracy (Chris), Ames; and Marcy Lundberg, Indianola. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Christopher, Monica, Kirsten, Sean, Nicholas, Jeramie, Elliott, Brandon, Brice, Rebecca, Mariah, Jacob and Carlyn and great grandchildren: Destiny and Cash. Also surviving Joe is his brother Tom (Judy), Minnesota; sister-in-law, Virginia Rial of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Thomas and Mary (Meagher) Rial. He was raised in the Barnum area and attended school there. He worked as a machinist at Coats Co. and as a mechanic for Smithway Xpress, Midas Muffler and Firestone in Fort Dodge and later as an electrician with Central Electric and Manson Electric retiring in 1995.
