Inez Isabelle Cheyney
May 2, 1920 - April 27, 2012
Inez Isabelle Cheyney, one of three daughters of Nellie Marie (Pace) and John "Paddy" Powles, was born on May 2, 1920 in Bartlett, Iowa. She grew up in the Bartlett and Pacific Junction, Iowa area and graduated from Pacific Junction High School in 1937.
Inez and Woodrow Wilson Cheyney were married on January 30, 1938 in Rockport, Missouri. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Charles L. and David L.
Inez and Woodrow were married 36 years when Woodrow passed away on February 20, 1974.
Inez was a member of the Pacific Junction United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker all her life, and loved owning and living on the farm, surrounded by all the farming operations. Inez enjoyed going out to eat and was a whiz at hanging wallpaper. Inez was the historian of the family and loved visiting with friends and relatives who would stop by to see her. She especially loved time spent with her family and grandchildren.
Inez passed away at her Pacific Junction home on April 27, 2012 at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 25 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Woodrow Cheyney; son Charles L. Cheyney in 2007; sister Ruby Slaughter and husband Drayton; and brothers-in-law, Claude Robertson and Harold Kolbe.
Inez is survived by son David L. Cheyney of Pacific Junction; daughter-in-law Nyla Cheyney of Winner, SD; grandchildren, Randy Bartmess and wife Dawn of Virginia Beach, VA, Lisa Baker and husband John of Nebraska City, NE, Teresa Heaselgrave and husband Paul of St. Phillips, Barbados, Kim May of San Diego, CA, Heather Cheyney of San Diego, CA, and Jamie Cheyney of Silver City, IA; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister Flossie Kolbe of Pacific Junction; nieces and nephews; and many friends who knew and loved her.
Memorials suggested to Pacific Junction United Methodist Church.
Interment in Glenwood Cemetery.
