Ardath Paul Carr, one of eight children of Lottie Louisa (Quimby) and Samuel Francis Carr, was born near Carson, Iowa on October 28, 1917. Artie attended school near their Carson home and at Honey Creek, Iowa where the family lived from 1928 to 1933. While living at Honey Creek, Artie helped his parents operate a filling station. The family moved to a farm near Macedonia, Iowa in 1933 and Artie helped operate the farm. In 1948, he moved with his parents to Carson and took a farmhand job for Carl McKenzie. Artie later moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where he was a faithful employee of Blue Star Foods. In 1982, Artie retired and returned to Carson. His enjoyments included Cubs Baseball, visiting his friends, and food.
In 1998, Artie moved to the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs. Artie died at the Village on November 6, 2006 at the age of 89 years and 8 days.
Preceding Artie in death were his parents; sisters Ina Williams and husband Vern, Velma Edic-Campbell and husbands Ivan Edic and Bill Campbell, Blanche Williams and husband Carl; brothers Delmar Carr and wife Mary Jane and Wayne Carr and wife Hope; sister-in-law Ruby Carr and brother-in-law Dale Hatfield.
Artie is survived by his brother Ray Carr and his wife Betty of Carson and sister Gerry Hatfield of Bella Vista, Arkansas; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
