Genevieve L. Kruse

Genevieve Louene Kruse, one of three children of Charles Vivian Sell and Nettie (Hoover) Sell, was born on August 20, 1909 at her parent's farm home north of Silver City, Iowa. Genevieve graduated from Silver City High School.
Genevieve and Conrad John Kruse, Jr. of Silver City were married at Hamburg, Iowa on February 5, 1935. They established their home on a family farm north of Silver City and continued a life-long farming career. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Gerald Sell and Charles Conrad. They were members of the Silver City United Methodist Church. Conrad was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Genevieve a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star. Genevieve enjoyed spending time with her friends and being a member of the Evergreen Neighborhood Club. She was an accomplished farm wife who raised chickens, tended large vegetable and flower gardens, mended the clothing, and was a fabulous cook. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Genevieve and Conrad had been married nearly 57 years when Conrad died January 31, 1992. In June 2001, Genevieve moved to Risen Son Christian Village near Council Bluffs, Iowa. While living at Risen Son, Genevieve enjoyed the company of fellow residents and continued an active life. She became seriously ill on October 28th and died on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Genevieve had attained the age of 97 years, 2 months, and 9 days.
In addition to her husband Conrad, Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Nettie Sell; brother Harrison Sell; and sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Ed Kruse. She is survived by her sons Gerald Kruse and wife Deanna of Silver City and Charles Kruse and wife Glenelle of Glenwood; five grandchildren: Ann Crisler of Phoenix, AZ, Brad Kruse and wife Nancy of Centennial, CO, Brian Kruse of Silver City, Aaron Kruse of Glenwood and Jerad Kruse and wife Michelle of Glenwood; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law Elaine Sell of Silver City; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
