Harold Thomas Edie, one of ten children of Minnie Elizabeth (Shaw) and Andrew Gilbert Edie, was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on November 8, 1929.
Tom and Donna Rae Ockerman were married on July 8, 1950 in Papillion, Nebraska. They made their home in Long Beach, California where Tom worked as a painter with Donna's father. Tom and Donna moved from California to Carter Lake, Iowa in 1959. Their marriage was blessed with three children; Linda, Larry, and David. Tom worked a short time as a painter and then began his career as an over the road truck driver working for several companies as well as him self.
In 1969, the family moved to their current home in Hastings, Iowa. Tom enjoyed fishing, horses, camping, and was an artist who loved to paint.
Tom and Donna had been married 55 years when Tom died at their home on March 14, 2006 at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, and brothers. He is survived by his wife Donna Edie of Hastings; daughter Linda Clayton and her husband Larry of Omaha, NE; sons Larry Edie and his wife Andrea of Underwood, IA and David Edie and his wife Vel of Red Oak, IA; sisters Ruth Morrin of Massachusetts and Nadine Wymore of Pawnee City; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild and one on the way.
