Luella Gertrude (Foster) Norman was born on October 19, 1924 in Sheridan, Missouri the daughter of Floyd and Letha (Pierson) Foster. Luella entered into eternal peace surrounded by her loving family on Monday afternoon, January 31, 2011 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Luella's early years were spent in the Sheridan, Missouri area. She attended Foster School through the 8th grade. In an effort to help support her family, she had to sacrifice her own education to help care for her siblings. At the age of 18 years she moved to Shenandoah, Iowa where she would spend the rest of her life.
Luella was united in marriage to Marion Hilding in 1944. The marriage was blessed with the birth of one son, Curtis. Luella was later married to Edwin Norman in 1956. To this union two children were born LouRae and Mark. Luella worked at Spencer's Ice Cream Shop and also cleaned houses in later years. Some of her interests included playing cards and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald, and sisters Opal, Elenore, and Dorothy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Curtis Hilding and wife Sandy, Mark Norman and wife Michelle and LouRae Nelson and husband David; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Rowe and Maxine Surplus; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
