Myron "Mike" Vieau

Myron "Mike" Vieau, 88, Green Bay, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at a local hospital. He was born on June 6, 1923, in Green Bay, to the late Ramsey and Bertha (Erickson) Vieau. Mike was a 1941 graduate of Green Bay West High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, assigned to the 496th AAA Gun Battalion in the South Pacific. He then served an additional year in the 32nd Division. On July 26, 1947, he married the former Cleo Johnsen at Trinity Lutheran Church, Green Bay. Mike was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years before retiring. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of American Legion, Sullivan-Wallen Post No. 11, 32nd Division Veterans Association, Rural Letter Carriers Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Bay Area Humane Society.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Cleo; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Keith and Cindy, Green Bay, and Michael and Bonnie, De Pere; three grandchildren: Amy, Jason and Michelle; two great grandchildren Hallie and Tim; one sister: Claire (Richard) Gilson, Green Bay; other relatives and friends, including his beloved dog, Doc.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric, and one infant sister, Marion.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where an American Legion service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 330 S. Broadway, where funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael R. Baucom officiating. Entombment in Fort Howard Mausoleum.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established for the Bay Area Humane Society and American Diabetes Association.
Mike's family would like to thank the caring staffs of the rehab wing at Woodside Lutheran Home and the 4th floor of Bellin Hospital for their compassion.
