Winifred "Winnie" Berth

Winifred (Winnie) Berth, 93, Ashwaubenon, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at a local hospital. She was born November 10, 1917 to the late Reginald and Anna (Stanaway) Gilson. Winnie was a 1935 graduate of Ontonagon High School in the upper peninsula of Michigan and a 1937 graduate of the Badger Business College in Green Bay. On September 14, 1946, she was united in marriage with Merton Berth at the First United Methodist Church in Green Bay. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage together; he preceded her in death March 13, 2002.
Winnie had been employed in the office at Verifine Dairy in Green Bay for 22 1/2 years. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star of the Ontonagon and Ewen Chapter in Michigan.
Survivors include her niece, Sue Jost and her husband, Jeffrey Jost and their children, Jeffrey and Britta Jost, Chris and Lindsay Jost, and Dan Jost.
In addition to her parents and husband, Merton, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Gilson, a baby brother, A. R. Gilson Jr., and three sisters-in-law: Margie Berth, Morva Steinmetz and Betty Berth.
In accordance with Winnie's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Burial will take place at Fort Howard Memorial Park in Green Bay.
The family wishes to thank Winnie's close friends and neighbors who helped her with daily living after Merton passed away.
