Josephine M. Roder, 90, a longtime Green Bay resident, was called Home to our Lord and reunited with her husband early on Sunday morning, December 27, 2009 at a local hospital. She was born September 24, 1919 to Henry and Petronella Kersten, in the town of Brillion, WI. She grew up in the Brillion/Hollandtown area, and then moved to Green Bay in 1937.
On October 14, 1943, she married George E. Roder in Charleston, SC. He preceded her in death in 1991. Josephine was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her six children: Ann Kellner, Green Bay; Don (Carol) Roder, Mesa, AZ; Rick (Debbie) Roder, Green Bay; Carol (Jeff) Popour, Green Bay; Mary (Mike) Seefeldt (DePere); and Lori (Joe) North, West Columbia, SC.; Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Bernice Gomach, Green Bay.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Norbert (Florence) Kersten, Irvin (Coletta) Kersten, John (Irene) Kersten and Peter Kersten, son-in-laws Robert Kellner and Joe Germait, and in-laws Ruth (John) Neary, and Robert Gomach.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lyndahl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum, 2770 Bay Settlement Road.
The family wishes to thank the Intensive Care Unit staff at St. Mary's Hospital for the attention and care they provided for Mom. A memorial fund has been established in Josephine's name.
