Dallas Shurtz

Dallas K. Shurtz, 89, Ashwaubenon, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Woodside Nursing Home. He was born January 11, 1919, in Waltonville, Illinois to the late William and Susan (Taylor) Shurtz. On August 5, 1940, he married LaVerne Du Fresne. They would have celebrated 68 years together in August.
Dallas was employed by Fort Howard Paper Co. for 35 years. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Key Club. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, a former member of the N.E.WI. Beagle Club and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darleen and Bob Tilot and Bonnie and Tom Coopmans; his grandchildren, Robin (Roger) Berth; Dan (Connie) Tilot; Dave Tilot; Tracy Tilot; Jim (Patti) Coopmans; Cory (Jody) Coopmans; Andy (Tracy) Coopmans; and Jodi Anne Coopmans; eight great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and Walter Cann.
Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 10, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida Street, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. John J. Becker officiating. Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Woodside Lutheran Home for their care and concern for Dallas.
