Mae Layden

Mary (Mae) Layden, 95, Green Bay, died Monday, November 8, 2004 at a local nursing home. She was born March 10, 1909 in County Clare, Ireland to the late John and Mary (Roche) Collins. Mae came to the United States in 1930. On June 27, 1936, she married John Layden, also of County Clare; he preceded her in death on September 20, 1976. Mae belonged to St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society, St. Mary's Hospital Guild, Ancient Order of Hibernarians, and the Shamrock Club. Survivors include three sons, Mike (Diane) Layden, Green Bay; Dennis (Kathy) Layden, Green Bay; Joe (Eileen) Layden, Green Bay; two daughters, Sister Brigid, CSA, Milwaukee; Annie (Bill) Emmerich, Chicago; 14 grandchildren, Cheryl (Randy) Moss, Lisa DeBeck, John Layden, Kayla (Sid) Sides, Dennis (Connie) Layden, Kim Layden, John (Samantha) Layden, Siobhan Layden, Matt Layden, Molly Layden, Catherine (Scott) Beaudo, Philip Layden, Maggie Layden, Mark Emmerich; 14 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Anna McInerney and Peg Vaughn; one sister-in-law, Maura Naughton, all of Ireland; daughter-in-law, Nadine Knoll, DePere; dear friend, Alan Graham, Green Bay; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Philip and Marty; one granddaughter, Laura Anne Emmerich; and nine siblings. Friends may call after 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1224 ? 12th Avenue, Green Bay, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Burial in Ft. Howard Memorial Park. Lyndahl Funeral Home is serving the family. The family wishes to thank the staff members of Rennes Health Center who have lovingly cared for our mom. The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
