William J. Wetzel, 70, Green Bay, died Saturday, October 15, 2005, at his Ashwaubenon home. He was born September 13, 1935, in Green Bay to the late William and Barbara Wetzel. On January 21, 1956, he married Joanne Jossart; she preceded him in death May 24, 1995. William had been employed with Spector Freight for over 20 years and later retired from CCX. William had been involved with Ashwaubenon youth football and baseball and had received The Red Smith Award.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William (Teresa) Wetzel; Robert (Rae) Wetzel; Bradley (Julie) Wetzel, all of Green Bay; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy Leisgang, Seymour; Julie (Thomas) Lundin, DePere; Mary (Chris) Connis, DePere; twelve grandchildren; three brothers, Donald; Lawrence (Sarah) Wetzel; Norbert (Carol) Wetzel, all of Fond du Lac; two sisters, Barbara (Joel) Moore, Janesville; Sandy (Doc) Hanson, Fond du Lac; Arlene Wetzel, Waupun; and many loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at Lyndahl Funeral Home where wake service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2770 S. Oneida St, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Father Willie VanDeLoo officiating. Entombment will take place at Allouez Mausoleum.
