John A. Woodke

John A. ?Chub? Woodke, 60, Ashwaubenon, pass Saturday, September, 3, 2005, at his home peacefully surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 30, 1944 to the Melvin and the late Grace (Smits) Woodke in De Pere. John graduated from Seymour High School in 1962. On March 17, 1984, he was united in marriage to Connie O'Brien. John had been employed at Broadway Chevrolet for 28 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. John was a diehard Packers fan, and also a Cubs fan. He loved cars, especially Corvettes. He was a great father and husband and spent most of his time with his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Connie; two sons, Nolan and Chris, both at home; one daughter, Tina (Jim) Peerenboom, Combined Locks; three grandchildren, Zach, Chelsea and J. P.; his father, Melvin Woodke; four brothers, Nick (Nancy) Woodke, Jerry (Carol) Woodke, Fred (Mary) Woodke, and Don (Jan) Woodke; one sister, Dorothy (Vernon) Bley; and many nieces, nephews, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law. He is also survived by his loving pets that were always by his side: Sammy (dog), and Buckwheat, Jasper and Spanky (cats). In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glen, two infants brothers and his little buddy, Scottie (dog). Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where a Service of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Lawrence Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Mary's Hospital (Oncology unit) and Unity Hospice ? especially Sharon and Nancy, his favorite nurses.
