In the early morning hours of April 5, 2025, John P. Walls, Sr. 79, passed away with his family by his side. He was born in Washington on February 13, 1946, the son of Pete and Ruth (Queen) Walls. In 1981, John married Nancy (Wolfe) Walls and they made their home together until his passing.
After high school, John went to work for Bender Lumber where he was the yard manager. He retired from there after thirty-one years of service. He was a true outdoorsman who tended to rescue horses and loved during yardwork. However, John was a devoted family man whose greatest joy of life was spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Eagles.
Those who now mourn John's passing include his wife, Nancy Walls of Washington; children: Nikki (Thomas) Hardcastle of Washington; Sheila Evans; and Jamie Walls. John leaves several grandchildren: Aleasha (Jake Fox) Christenberry of Petersburg; Jonathan Christenberry (Katie Thompson) of Flat Rock, Illinois; Kendell Whitehead of Washington; Brooklyn Whitehead of Washington; Makayla Walls of Washington; Bentley Walls of Washington; including other grandchildren. John was also awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild, to be named Lincoln, who is on the way. John leaves one sister, Norma McCrary of Washington.
During his lifetime, John grieved the loss of his parents, Pete and Ruth Walls; his son, John Walls, Jr.; brothers: Mike Walls, Ernie Walls, Joe Walls, Kenny Walls; sisters: Linda Fidler-Daily, Virginia McFarlend, Margaret Lundy; and sister-in-law, Ellen Walls.
