"Great memories of coordinating with Dennis as organist on his Christmas Eve broadcasts for years, of the St Simon Christmas Concerts and Midnight Masses. ... A truly professional program broadcaster. ... Sincerest Sympathies to the Family. "
Dennis Michael Daily passed at the Daviess Community Hospital on December 30, 2024. He was born in Washington, Indiana, March 9, 1947, the son of Joseph M. and Eileen (Baker) Daily. His parents proceeded him in death.
A 1965 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, Dennis began his radio career at WAMW/WFML as a teenager. He graduated from Vincennes University and attended Indiana University before moving to Washington, DC.
A born communicator, Dennis worked for Mutual Broadcasting for several years and was the original producer of the Larry King radio show. Dennis also served as the press secretary for 8th District Congressman Joel Deckard before accepting a position with United Press International (UPI) where he worked as the National Managing Editor and, later, West Coast Bureau Chief in Los Angeles.
Although he lived in other areas of the country, Dennis never forgot his hometown roots. He came back to Washington to anchor local coverage of Christmas Eve services at four local churches for WAMW for more than 25 years.
Dennis loved traveling and playing bingo. He was also a history buff and was writing a book about the D-Day invasion before he passed.
Those who mourn Dennis' passing include his sister, Diane, and many friends and colleagues throughout the country.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at a later date.

"I have always known Dennis to be family, distant as it was, but I consider him a friend as well. I had the opportunity to stay with Dennis for a couple of months in DC after I graduated college. It was an opportunity I would not have had or taken if was not for him reaching out. He allowed me into his world of broadcasting and showing me the behind the scenes at the office and the interviews he was always working on. He was quite the character and I enjoyed the tales of his early days in broadcasting, doing unusual things to get the story. I will miss Dennis and pray for his soul and Diane is in my thoughts.
