Rose Ann Halter
December 22, 1946 - October 9, 2024

Rose Ann (Helming) Halter, 77, of Washington, passed away at her home on the family farm on October 9, 2024. She was born December 22, 1946, in Ferdinand to Bernard and Dorothy (Messmer) Helming. On March 2, 1974, she married David R. Halter. Together, for the next forty-three years, they created a blessed family and farm. David passed away in 2017.

Rose Ann graduated from Jasper High School in 1964. She did administrative work at Jasper Wood Products, Daviess County Abstract Office, was a stay-at-home mom, and then retired from a robust career at FRRS/DSI. She was also a go-to tax preparer at H & R Block for several decades. Rose Ann was a parishioner at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and was very devout and active in her Catholic faith.

In these last years, she kept very busy. She volunteered at the Washington Catholic Elementary School and was an active volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul. She was the president of the Monday Afternoon Club and the Daughters of Isabella, Circle #598.

She was the best anyone could ask for as a wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend. She was the type of person who would not hesitate to help anyone out, especially family. She most enjoyed her grandchildren's activities and family gatherings. Her family was blessed to have her endless love and dedication.

"Rosie, I am so sorry to hear of your passing. Carolyn had only recently, said you were home, and doing ok. So, I was surprised, when she informed me that you had passed away. I have never forgotten you. I often remember my time in Jasper, and you as a good friend; and of course, all the Helmings who were special friends with me. I remember you worked hard to help take care of your younger siblings. I remember the first time I saw you, as you walked by Flecks drug, and I exclaimed to Gene Siddons, did you see that beautiful girl who walked by? No one I asked, knew who I was referring too. The next time I saw you was when you walked in the door, to Marlene and Gary's apartment, where I was sitting on the couch. I remember you were always friendly, happy and easy to know. I remember wondering, when leaving Jasper, if I should go, but finishing college, was too strong a pull. Over the years, your sisters, Marlene and Carolyn, kept me informed of all the Helmings. I was quite pleased to know you had married and was living a good, happy life. I know you will be eternally happy, in heaven, with God. May you forever rest in peace. Please tell my special friends, Marlene Helming Siddons, and Connie Durcholz Helming, hello, when you see them in heaven. Your friend, Jim Bernie, Carolyn, Betty, & Joe, I am so sorry to learn that Rosie passed away, and so soon after being seen as ok. I understand she was at home, when passing on, as she wished to be. I know your grievances are intense, as she was special to all of you; as she was to many. I believe God hears your prayers, and that Rosie wishes you to continue your lives, but remember her in your heart and prayers. I know you will; and so will I. May she live forever with God, in peace, and free of problems. Now she will be with Marlene and Connie. Your good friend, Jim Seidlinger"
