Francis Eugene (Gene) Tisinger, 96, of Ainsworth, Iowa passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024.
Gene was born on February 6, 1928 in Cedar County, Iowa. He was the son of Clifford Albert and Helen Frances (Mohr) Tisinger. Gene graduated from Tipton High School in 1946.
Gene started his life farming near West Liberty, Iowa and worked there for a number of years. He and his wife Darlene and their young sons (Jerry and Ron) then moved to Iowa
City where he lived for the next 20 years, and soon added their daughter (Kathy) to the family. Gene owned and operated a repair business and worked for the Iowa City Public
Schools in heating and cooling system maintenance until he and his second wife Dolly moved to Tucson, AZ in 1977. While living in Tucson, Gene managed an apartment
complex, of which he was part owner. He also worked maintaining nursing homes for the Manor Care Company. Gene retired in 1996 and, along with his third wife Nancy, moved to
Mt. Pocono, PA, where Gene was active in the community and supported the volunteer fire department.
Gene is survived by three siblings - Janet Kleckner, Allen (Connie) Tisinger and Paul (Alma) Tisinger, sisters-in-law, Joan Tisinger and Cecelia Tisinger. Also survived by his sons Jerald
(Susan) of Raleigh, NC, and Ronald Tisinger of Saratoga, CA, daughter Katherine Rains of Ainsworth, IA, and stepsons Larry, Steve, Wayne, Tony, and Brad Waison. Grandchildren
include Bryan (Lacey) Tisinger, Rocky (Patty) Rains, Curtis (Shayna) Rains, Alyssa Tisinger and many great grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife Dolly, and his brothers Wayne and Lee Tisinger, and sisters Patricia Kleckner and Donna Wilkerson.
Gene will be interred at Mount Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, Illinois, next to his wife Dolly. In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be sent to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Pocono
Mountain Volunteer Fire Company, or Iowa City Hospice, Inc.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 21st at Iowa City City Park, shelter 12 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Condolences may be shared online at www.celebratelifeiowa.com.
