"Ms Hume was the prettiest teacher at Dos Palos HS. Always gorgeous smile and hi to us students. Bless family. Diane Falaschi Downum"
Sophie (Leos) Hume, 92 years of age, passed away Thursday May 2nd, in Fresno CA.
Sophie was born on May 16, 1931 in Los Banos CA, to the late Louie and Josephine Leos. She was the youngest of the two Leos sisters, with her best friend and sister Laverne preceding her in death. After high school, Sophie graduated from San Jose University.
Sophie married her soul mate Robert (Bill) Hume in 1953, and they shared a love affair of 47 years. Sophie brought out the best in Bill, and Bill brought out the best in Sophie. Their laughing, singing and dancing nights were Sophie's favorite times. Sophie was a dedicated teacher at Dos Palos High School for over 40 years, who was known for being fair, firm, and always having a bright smile when someone needed it most.
What defines happiness in life ? For Sophie it was simple, fill it with family, friend, good food and a clean kitchen. Fill it with Bridge night, trips to Tahoe & Wawona, and most importantly, fill it with hugs and kisses.
Sophie was strong in her Catholic faith, which was so important when her husband passed. The Church became a second family and nourished her heart when it was needed.
Sophie is survived by her son Bill, his wife Jamie, and her two grandchildren, Isabella (22) and Leyton (18). There will be a service for those that would like to say their last goodbyes to Sophie on Thursday, May 23, 2024 @10:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dos Palos.
Please wear bright spring colors as requested by Sophie's family.
