Richard "Bear" Riffey
October 10, 1942 - December 29, 2023

Richard E. "Bear" Riffey, 81, passed away during the afternoon of December 29, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis on October 10, 1942, to Samuel T., Jr. and Anna (Raymann) Riffey.

After high school, Richard joined the Indiana National Guard. He was employed at McCord's until it closed, and then worked at the Amax Coal Mine. Later, he was a truck driver.

Richard loved motorcycling and was a member of the Fifth Column Motorcycle Club. He attended the Calvary Holiness Church in Petersburg.

Those left to cherish Richard's memory include his stepson, Donnie Cato; stepdaughter, Alana Morning; sister, Sharon (Arthur) Nalker of Springhill, Florida; and brother, Mark "Hippi" (Jackie Burris) Hand of Otwell. Richard leaves three nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Samuel T. Riffey, Jr.; and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Cato.

Visitation for Richard E. Riffey will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.

Funeral services for Richard E. Riffey will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 7:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Pastor Craig Line will officiate.
Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery at a later date.
