John Laco

Greece-December 16, age 87, John passed away suddenly surrounded by family. John was born in Lackawanna, NY. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Ruszczyk), parents, Louis and Anna Laco, and sister, Veronica Laco. John is survived by his children, Lori M. (Honorable Charles A. Schiano, Jr.) Laco-Schiano, Michael (Julia) Laco and Pauline (Brian) Emelson; grandchildren, the joys of his life, Matthew M. Schiano, Esq., Luke C. Schiano, Esq., Gillian A. Laco and Maeve J. Emelson; sister-in-law Eileen (Bronislaus) Szematowicz; nieces, Camille Rammer and Andrea Hartzell; several cousins, friends and wonderful neighbors.

John enjoyed an early retirement as a chemical technician from Eastman Kodak. He consistently took pleasure in his retirement days with a fishing pole in his hands at either the Charlotte pier or the Russell Station fishing holes. He was a huge supporter of his grandchildren's activities including concerts, athletics, and graduations. John loved spending time with his grandchildren teaching them his fishing and gardening techniques, they carry the traditions on today. John was an avid gardener, often sharing the harvest of his crops with family and neighbors. John was a proficient winemaker often willingly sharing his "hooch" with any brave member of the family.

"Sending all our love and our deepest sympathies. Uncle John was loved for the character he was! Sassy, smiling, caring, kind. Always willing to share his homemade wine and show us pictures of his catch of the day! We know he was welcomed into heaven with open arms. God bless. Love, Pam, Gary and Sage"
