Donald Kaiser
January 9, 1936 - November 19, 2023
Donald Joseph Kaiser, 87 years old, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Dubuque Iowa. Born January 9th, 1936, in Grant County Wisconsin. The Son of Eugene (Charlie) and Agnes (Gerhards) Kaiser. Don grew up on a farm, joined the Marine Corp in 1956, and worked at John Deere for 13 years. Don married JoAnn Melssen in Dickeyville Wisconsin 63 years ago.
Together they built homes in Dubuque, Colorado Springs and Cedar Rapids. Don has a passion and talent and took great pride in turning old equipment into new like condition. He was able to turn rusty, old equipment into a spectacular working piece of treasure. Don and JoAnn wintered in Mesa Arizona for 20 plus years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, friends and laughter. Don was diagnosed with Alzheimer's on January 2023. November 9th he was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer and 10 days later he was gone.
Survivors include his loving wife JoAnn Kaiser; two daughters Kathleen Robinson and Jill (Barry) Shriner. He is also survived by three grandchildren Scott (Jess) Robinson, Bryce (Nicole) Shriner and Lindsey (Austin) Glandorf. Two and a half Great Grandchildren Anya Robinson, Jackson Shriner and baby Shriner (coming in May).
Per Don's wishes there will be no public visitation or service.
His family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Essence of Life Hospice, in Amana, for the wonderful care they took of Don.

Celebrate Life Iowa, in North Liberty, has been entrusted with Don's cremation care.
