In loving memory of

Christa Brigitta Sullivan
June 20, 1952 - October 28, 2023

Christa Brigitta (Arwginski) Sullivan, 71, of Washington, passed away October 28, 2023, at St. Vincent Ascension Hospital in Evansville, surrounded by her family. She was born Christa Brigitta Arwginski on June 20, 1952, in Hamburg, Germany, to Roderick and Renata Arwginski.

Christa and her two siblings emigrated, with their parents, to the United States through the kind and generous assistance of the Methodist Men's Organization of the First Methodist Church led by the Reverend John M. Kirkpatrick. The family arrived in Washington by train on December 30, 1956, and resided in the 1300 block of Grand Avenue.

Christa married David Lee Sullivan in 1978 and they had a daughter, Amy Elizabeth. In their retirement years, they raised chickens, peacocks, and other birds.

Christa was a tough person on the outside, but she was kindhearted on the inside. She enjoyed writing and feeding the birds. She supplied the many homeless cats that appeared at her doorstep with food and water. After David had a stroke, she took great care of him in their home.

Christa is loved and missed by her siblings, Klaus Arwginski and Petra Gdowski, of Farmington, Michigan; Angela Sievers of Vincennes; and nephew Adam (Stacey) Barron, and their daughter, Morganne of Vincennes.

Christa was preceded in death by her parents, Roderick and Renata Arwginski; her husband, David, and their daughter, Amy Elizabeth.

The family is grateful to Jerry Sullivan and Angel Underhill for all the care, comfort, and assistance they provided to Christa.

The family is grateful to the Reverend April Daily of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Vincennes for leading the graveside service at the Oak Grove Cemetery held on November 1, 2023, and to the Ed L. Lee Mortuary for handling the funeral arrangements.

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to Myself, so that where I am, you also may be." John 14:3
