OBITUARY
Robert Herbert Eckmann, 45 of Glenwood, IA, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Avoca Specialty Care in Avoca, IA after a short battle with cancer.

Bob was born on August 2, 1978 in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Dennis Eckmann and Joni Jensen. He was a long-time resident of the Glenwood Resource Center and a graduate of the Glenwood High School in 1999. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Neola, IA.

Bob was most well-known for his infectious smile. He was very good at catching attention from the ladies with that smile and rarely missed the opportunity to draw them in for a photo. He loved his Glenwood family. He lived there for over 40 years and, during that time, the staff, other residents and volunteers became an extended part of his family. The highlight of Bob's days were outings to the zoo, fishing and all social activities. He enjoyed the holidays the most, from dressing up for Halloween to his visits home for Christmas where he could spend time with his family. Bob was rarely seen without his rubber chicken and was particularly fond of the days when he could watch as his small nieces and nephews played around him. Bob participated in the Special Olympics for 12 years and was proud of his many medals and ribbons in batting, bowling, basketball and volleyball. God's plan for Bob was grace. He graced everyone who knew him.

In March 2023, Bob moved to live at the Woodward Resource Center where he lived until September of 2023 when he entered hospice at Avoca Specialty Care.

Bob is survived by his mother Joni Jensen of Council Bluffs, IA; father Dennis (Cathy) Eckmann of Neola; siblings, Michael Eckmann (Crystal), Aaron (Amanda) Nelson, Daniel (Mallory) Nelson, Jon (Andrea) Nelson; 8 nieces; 2 nephews, maternal grandmother Loretta Jensen of Neola; and many other beloved friends and family.
