Remembering Elaine

Elaine Thaine was born on May 26, 1960, to parents Marion Revelas and Berl Thaine. The family lived in Charlotte, where Marion was a homemaker and Berl worked at Eastman Kodak. Elaine had four siblings; James, Anne, Roger, Ronald. The Thaine home was a bustling one - with lots of kids running around and not much room for privacy or solitude. Family vacations and holidays spent with the Thaine side of the family were always events to look forward to. She grew up close with her siblings and idolized her father. In fact, when Berl's career ended with Kodak, Elaine's career began! They used to joke that their workplace had, "Lost a Thaine, and gained a Thaine".

From a young age, Elaine exhibited her Type A personality and a strong work ethic. She ran her own babysitting service and sewed over 100 stuffed animals to sell at the Clothesline Arts Festival! As she grew up, Elaine earned her Associate Degree in Accounting and began her 40+ year career. She worked in the financial offices of Kodak, Xerox, EDS, Parkridge Hospital, and RRH.

In her free time, Elaine liked reading, going to the movies, and taking day trips. She was an avid sports fan, too, keeping up with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, NY Yankees, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and the Williams Sisters. Elaine enjoyed veterinarian shows, "This is Us," "The Blacklist," and "New Amsterdam." Most of all, though, she loved watching her favorite movie, "The Wizard of Oz." She often hosted movie nights to watch this with her nieces and nephews and eventually gave VHS tapes of the film to all of them for when they were grown up and had their own homes.

Elaine had a profound love for animals. Her rabbits; Max, Kayla, Leo, Stella, Nathan, Maddy, Cooper, Gabbie, were her "fur babies." She loved the joy, fun, and unconditional love they brought to her life.

Those who had the fortune of knowing Elaine will remember her as a strong and independent woman who never hesitated to help someone out. She had a stellar sense of humor and was a caring and competent family member and friend.
