In loving memory of

Kathleen Ann Rokes
November 5, 1960 - September 16, 2023

Kathleen Ann Rokes, known affectionately as Kathy, was born on November 5, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She passed away peacefully on Saturday September 16th, 2023 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Visitation and Celebration of Life Friday, September 22nd, from 11:00 to 1:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 1:00 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Kathy was a proud graduate of St. Edmond High School, class of 1978. After graduation, she began her career as a cook in a nursing home, where she discovered her passion for caring for others. This passion led her back to school in the 1990s, where she graduated from Iowa Central Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.). Kathy spent the rest of her career working in various nursing homes, where she was known for her dedication and compassion.
Kathy was a woman of many interests, but her family was always at the heart of everything she did. She was a loving mother to her children, Tyler (Allison) Rokes of Fort Dodge, Thomas Rokes of Fort Dodge, and William Rokes of Des Moines. She was also a proud grandmother to Dawson Rokes. Kathy is survived by her brothers, Steve (Melissa) Rokes of Panora, Jim (Linda) Rokes of Rockwell City, and Tim Rokes of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Phillips; sisters, Mary Ellen Bennett, Catherine and Jean Rokes; and brothers, Johnny and Tom Rokes.
In addition to her love for her family, Kathy had a passion for playing pool and throwing darts. She was a skilled player, even making it to the National Tournament. But it was not just the games she loved; it was the camaraderie and friendships she formed along the way. Kathy was always a very generous person who embraced life and enjoyed every moment.
Those who knew Kathy will remember her as a selfless, generous, and loving individual. She had a heart for service, always putting others before herself. Her kindness and generosity extended beyond her family and friends, touching the lives of the many patients she cared for throughout her career.
Kathy's life was a testament to her love for her family, her dedication to her profession, and her generosity towards others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the lives of those she loved.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
