In loving memory of

Richard Allen Wilmot
May 10, 1941 - September 10, 2023

Richard A Wilmot, 82, of Vinton, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023, in Newton, Iowa from sepsis and renal failure, both complications due to alzheimer's. He recently moved to Traditions Memory Care in Newton, Iowa after a fire at the Bar Manor Condominium complex in Vinton on July 28, 2023 permanently displaced him from his home. The fire triggered rapidly increasing alzheimer's symptoms & decline requiring 24 hour supervision. He passed with his daughters at his side, after four days of hospitalization.

Richard was an outgoing, friendly man who would happily strike up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed boating on Clear Lake, & snow skiing in Colorado. He and his friends were avid adventure hikers in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona right up until he moved from Apache Junction, Arizona to Vinton in 2020. They had many adventures together! He retired in 2008 from his business, Quality Affordable Garages, centered in Waterloo, Iowa. His retirement was sudden due to the loss of home and business in the massive Iowa floods in 2008.

Survived by daughters Deborah Lutz (Ron) and Sherry Wilmot, grandson Tanner Speidel, of Vinton, and many family and friends. He was preceeded in death by parents George J. Wilmot & Florence J. (Anderson) Wilmot, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and by his beloved dog, Javier.
