LaMona was born on November 28, 1940 in Council Bluffs, the oldest of three children of Harvey Samuel and Marion Elizabeth (Kruse) Jurgens. She grew up on her parents' farm south of Silver City, IA. LaMona attended Pleasant Grove country school and graduated from Malvern High School in 1958. She then attended Commercial Extension Business College in Omaha. LaMona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenwood. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved watching the games with her cats over the years; first Frosty, then Domino, and finally Gabby.
LaMona was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Marion; and brother Gene Jurgens.
LaMona is survived by her sister, Carol Patterson and husband Larry of Glenwood; sister-in-law Cheryl Jurgens of Collins, IA; nephews, Sam Jurgens of Collins, IA, Jim Patterson of West Hollywood, CA, and Jeff Patterson of Glenwood; and other relatives and friends.
