"Lisa, I just heard about Jerry. I am so very sorry! This is such a great loss for you and family. Sending my deepest condolences. Julie Perry "
Jerry F. Toscano, Jr.
N. GREECE - August 14, 2023, After a long, courageous battle with cancer, and shortly after celebrating his 65th year- Jerry Frank Toscano was called home to join his parents, Jerry Toscano Sr. and Christine Toscano. Jerry was the heartbeat of his family. He instilled values of togetherness, love and laughter in every room he entered and in every person he met.
As an avid entertainer and family man, Jerry enjoyed hosting his large family for get-togethers and holidays, taking them to concerts and musicals, and planning vacations both near and far. He loved nothing more than to cook and provide for his family. The menu was always long, always delicious, and far beyond expectation. Forever the chef, Jerry loved to grill, bake, and barbecue, perpetually seeking out new recipes and watching cooking shows to improve his craft. Some of his specialties included his pulled pork, lobster bisque, smoked ribs, eggplant parm, spinach pie, ice cream cake, peach daiquiris, apple crisp, and every breakfast known to man. Sharing his joy of the racetrack with his immediate and extended family, Jerry's loved ones gathered year after year in the same spot in Saratoga to watch the races. Always sitting together- eating, drinking, laughing, and celebrating the day's wins, and those inevitable losses.
It was clear early on in life that Jerry was a passionate sports fan. After his own football and basketball playing days were done, he would often be found watching his children play one of their many sports. He took pride in never missing any of their games. If he wasn't watching his children he could often be found watching sports on multiple screens from his recliner or jet setting to the sportsbook in Las Vegas.
At the time of his passing, Jerry was surrounded by his family- including his loving companion and wife of 28 years, Lisa Toscano; beloved children, Breanne (Matt) McCrank, Jeremy (Michelle) Toscano, Allison (Michael Leppert) Toscano, Nick Toscano, Janine (Jay) Szymanski, Adrienne (Ken Rabe) Madama, & Anthony Madama. Jerry is also survived by his cherished grandchildren who were the light of his life: Brooke McCrank, Emery McCrank, Gracie McCrank, Matilda Leppert, Elizabeth Leppert, Noah Szymanski, Hunter Szymanski, and Leana Szymanski. Jerry also leaves behind his close siblings- Barbara (Bob) Ziemniak, Patty Toscano, Donna Maslyn, & Toby (Jan) Toscano and countless, devoted nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the Hildebrandt Hospice Center and Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church for providing Jerry with a peaceful transition. Taking a page from Jerry's playbook, which often reflected the Racetrack- Show, Place, Win, Bet. Show up for your family and loved ones. There is no place like home. When we're together, we win. And always bet on love.
Jerry's life story will be shared during his visitation, Friday, August 18th, from 4-8 pm at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, August 19th, 10:30 am at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd. Immediately following Jerry will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, https://www.stjude.org/give.html
