In loving memory of

Robert P. "Bobbie" Gomes
January 4, 1937 - July 24, 2023

July 24, 2023. Robert P. "Bobbie" Gomes is predeceased by his parents Wilfred & Marie Gomes; sisters Margret & Phylis, wife Marietta Gomes (née Palozzi). He is survived by his sister Muriel Burleigh, his sons Joseph, John (Tanya) & Geoffrey Gomes; grandchildren, Jillian, Dillon, Greyson & Isabelle; many nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.

Bobbie was born on the island of Antigua, British West Indies. He completed his education graduating from "12 forms "as it was called there. He went on to work in accounting for the firm Fitzpatrick & Graham, then after some time moved on to Leeward Island Air & Transport (LIAT) which managed accounts throughout the Leeward Island chain. In 1966 he immigrated to the United States, got married, started a family & went to work for Rochester General Hospital as an accountant controller where he worked for 25 years before retiring.

He captured his "American Dream".

Bobbie loved his family, his friends, music of all sorts, history, sailing, cricket & most of all his portion of Irish ancestral heritage. He was quite proud of it to the point he took up Irish dancing & became quite involved locally. He loved to travel to Milltown Malbay in County Clare, Ireland attending dance workshops & events that centered around Irish dance. When he wasn't dancing at the local establishment or festival, you could find him & his best friend Paddy Hoey having a sip & a laugh.

The Gomes family invites you to Bobbies Funeral Mass at 10 am Saturday, July 29th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue Rochester, NY 14616. He will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/give.html or any charity of your choosing in Bobbies memory.
