Edward Gerrish Thurber
July 15, 1940 - July 9, 2023

Edward Gerrish Thurber, 82, of Fullerton, California passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara Ann Thurber. He was the proud and loving father of son Edward Thurber (Julie) and daughter Stacy Whitelock (Andrew), and stepchildren Denise Wendorff (Todd), Cindy Scharkey (Brian) and Rod Turner (Eden). He was blessed to be a grandpa to 17 grandchildren.

Ed was predeceased in 2002 by his wife, Leona Izmirian Thurber, with whom he raised their family in Fullerton. Born in Pennsylvania, Ed grew up in New Jersey attending Lawrenceville Prep School and Princeton University where he earned a degree in aerospace engineering and lettered on the track team setting a long-standing university record in the javelin throw. He went on to earn a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Southern California and served as a mathematics professor at Biola University for 38 years. Ed was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who loved to teach and share about the Grace of God. He was much beloved and will be dearly missed. A service is planned for Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11:00 at Fullerton Free Church.
