Jane G. Rekstad
Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Webster, New York: Transitioned peacefully to heaven on June 23, 2023, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Jane was born in Rochester, New York to the late Herman and Helen (Thiem) Gesell. She was a graduate of John Marshall high school and SUNY Brockport.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ingvald (Red) Rekstad. Jane and Red loved to travel in their motor home with their dog. She also loved playing piano and reciting poetry. Jane is survived by her daughter, Carol (Philip) Decker of Sarasota, Florida; a son, Stephen (Rhonda) Rekstad of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Hans and Britta Rekstad of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; a cousin, Ellen Horn of Rochester, New York; a sister-in-law, Iley (Frank) Petereit of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; additional cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Jane's visitation will be held from 11:00 am -12 Noon on Monday, July 3rd at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 12:00 pm, with Mary Bookout presiding. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the First United Methodist Church, 104 South Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236, or to a charity of your choice.
