Richard J. McBride, 97, of Duncombe passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 26, 2023 at Holy Trinity Church in Fort Dodge. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Duncombe where military rites will be presented by the Duncombe American Legion and the U.S. Marine Honor Guard. A visitation will be 9:00 AM until the start of the service at the church.

He is survived by children Jim and wife Abby of Webster City, Dan and wife Amy of Franklin, KY, Bill and wife Michelle of Lehigh, Bob and wife Kristy of Franklin, KY, Colleen Mallinger and her husband Mark of Duncombe, Mary Beth Farley of Franklin, KY, 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Irene (Housken) Goodrich, wife Kathryn, son-in-law Roger Farley, granddaughters Emma Jones and Paityn Duvall.

Richard John McBride was born July 19, 1925. He was raised in rural Lehigh. He served during WWII as a Marine from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On Nov. 26, 1946 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Fetrow at St. Joseph's Church in Duncombe. They made Duncombe their home. Richard was a farmer all his life. Family was the most important thing in his life. In 2011, Richard went on the Brushy Creek Honor Flight with his daughter Colleen and the rest of the kids met them in Washington, D.C. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
