Gletus Marie (Byrer) Dant
October 18, 1931 - April 15, 2023

Gletus Marie (Byrer) Dant, 91, passed away after a short illness at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington on April 15, 2023. She was born October 18, 1931, in Odon, to Delmar Joe and Alice (Wadsworth) Byrer. On December 29, 1951, she married Marshall Warren Dant, and he has preceded her in death.

Gletus was a 1949 graduate of Odon High School. She had retired from RCA in Bloomington and later worked at NASCO Industries in Washington. Gletus was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

A woman of many talents, Gletus was a skilled seamstress and loved to crochet. She was a marvelous cook - her family fondly recalls her homemade beef and noodles. However, she was happiest when she was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Known for her generous spirit, Gletus was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Those who now mourn Gletus' passing include her children: Marsha (Joe) Clark, Kathy Gaither, and Roger Dant; siblings: Almeda Flinn; Karen Karns; and Randall Byrer. Gletus was blessed with seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

During her lifetime, Gletus grieved the loss of her parents, Alice and Delmar Byrer; husband, Marshall Warren Dant; infant son, Tony Dant; sister, Marceline Byrer; brother, Joseph Byrer, Jr.; son-in-law, Jim Gaither; and one grandchild.

Visitation for Gletus Dant will be held at 9:45-10:45 am, Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gletus Dant will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, April 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
